SVCPC 3rd Annual Toy and Book Drive

THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR 3RD ANNUAL TOY AND BOOK DRIVE A GREAT SUCCESS!

To help make the Christmas season more joyous for everyone, over the course of November and December 2007, the South Vancouver Community Policing Center once again held its annual Christmas Toy and Book Drive. The Centre and its volunteers in partnership with local financial institutions, businesses, and residents, worked very hard to collect toys to benefit local families.

As a result of their collective effort, the Centre was able to collect over hundreds of new toys and books to help the needy children in the community. Several boxes of the toys were handed over to the South Vancouver Neighbourhood House, who, with the help of local elementary schools, passed them onto families who could not afford toys for their children at Christmas. In addition, several boxes were handed to the The Boys and Girls club and the Dicken’s Community foot patrol group to help with their annual Christmas hampers.

Once again, we would like to say thanks to everyone who participated and assisted in making our toy drive a huge success. This event could not have happened without everyone’s kind and gracious support.

In 2008, to continue with the spirit of giving and helping children in our community, the office will be conducting an ongoing book drive to help support the local literacy programs. Should you wish to participate or assist with this worthy endeavor, please contact us at 604-717-2940 or drop off your books anytime at the office at 5657 Victoria Drive.
